Applications

All undergraduate applications to Scottish universities are submitted via the UK’s centralised application website called UCAS. Applications from everywhere in the world must be made through this system. UCAS will ask you to submit details of your current education and any qualifications already achieved, a personal statement, and an academic reference.

The UCAS application system typically opens on 1st September the year before the start of the course, and the usual deadline for applying is 15th January. We may be able to accept late applications, though we recommend applying prior to the deadline. You can apply before you have received final grades from examinations/high school tests.

Postgraduate applications should be made directly via the Abertay website. The online application can be found on the relevant course page. The application will ask you to submit details of your current education and any qualifications already achieved, a personal statement, and an academic reference. There is no strict deadline to apply, though applications from international students should be made in good time to allow for visa processing time.

Entry Requirements

Abertay accepts a wide range of international qualifications for entry onto undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Please get in touch with us to check the entry requirements for your course of interest, or for your qualifications.

English language

Applicants whose first language is not English, or haven’t previously studied in an English-speaking country, will be required to demonstrate evidence of English language proficiency. Abertay accepts a wide range of English language qualifications, including IELTS at a minimum overall score of 6.0. Please get in touch with us to check if you need to complete an English language qualification, and for details of other accepted qualifications.
